Unfortunately, the term “modest” hasn’t obtained the best reputation over the years with the majority of people in the world and even in the church.  But we are here, by God’s grace, to help the beauty and light of modesty shine in our churches and in this dark world again!

About “Modest Closet”:

As Christians, we are called to be ambassadors, or representatives,  of the gospel — the gospel of deliverance from sin and the gift of salvation & righteousness in Jesus Christ (Ephesians 6:20)! Many may ask, “Does the way I dress really matter as far as being a Christian and representing Jesus? Can’t I just be kind and loving? Dress doesn’t really matter does it?!”

Think about this.  When we look at ambassadors in our world today, they usually can be identified in many ways when they are in a country different from their native land. Their language, the food they eat and the clothes they wear are all great witnesses that they are from another land — the land that they are representing! Are we not to represent the land where our true citizenship resides? Of Heaven?

Of course! We are told in 1 Peter 2:9 that we are “a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people” and that we should be representing Christ, who has called us out of darkness, and declare Him and His praises to the world!  So how does God want us to represent Him through our dress?

“I [God] will [desire] therefore…that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array; But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.” -1 Timothy 2:8-10

So God desires that we dress modestly friends!  Modest attire, which we see is the opposite of costly and attention grabbing clothing and jewels, is associated with women who profess godliness!

Unfortunately, the term “modest” hasn’t obtained the best reputation over the years with the majority of people in the world and even in the church.  But we are here, by God’s grace, to help the beauty and light of modesty shine in our churches and in this dark world again!

We want to do God’s will, amen? And surely, as God is the maker of all things beautiful, He wants our modest dress to also be tasteful and beautiful! So how do we find the beautiful mix of modest, modern, tasteful and practical clothing?

Join us, as we share with you how you too can come to love the beauty of modest dress (and even behavior), how dressing modestly is such a blessing to you and others, and how to make it a beautiful and practical reality in your closet and life!
